Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if we’re a good fit for therapy?
Do you take insurance?
I’m an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. However, I offer support for insurance reimbursement in two ways:
I provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
I partner with Mentaya, a service that streamlines reimbursement for out-of-network therapy benefits, making it quick and easy with no paperwork on your end!
I’m happy to guide you through either option.
How long are sessions?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes.
I offer extended sessions ranging from 60 to 180 minutes at a prorated fee. Longer sessions provide more time for in-depth work and are especially beneficial for EMDR intensives, couples therapy, or family therapy.
What can I expect in therapy?
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and if you’re reading this, you’ve already taken one of the hardest steps, which is getting started. Here’s a step-by-step guide on what you can expect from this process:
1. Schedule a free consultation or book your first session: This gives us a chance to connect and see if we’re a good fit.
2. We’ll begin with an intake session, where I’ll gather relevant information about your goals and begin getting to know you.
3. Ongoing sessions typically occur weekly. We’ll work together toward your goals, and once those are met, we may choose to reduce sessions to biweekly, monthly, or eventually conclude therapy. Some clients continue for ongoing support, while others seek short-term care with specific outcomes in mind.
4. Your treatment will be tailored to you. Visit the My Services page to learn more about the approaches I use with individuals, couples, and families. You can expect a space where you feel heard, validated, and challenged to grow. Therapy often leads to reduced anxiety, healthier relationships, greater self-awareness, and deep emotional healing from trauma.
Why HeartFelt Mind Therapy?
I founded HeartFelt Mind Therapy with an abundance of passion for this work and care for the relationships that I get to build with clients. The name was inspired by a common question I've heard and observed in sessions: "why don't I feel the things that I know?" Often times, we experience dissonance within ourselves, knowing something intellectually but struggling to truly feel or believe it. Together, let's bridge the gap between your heart and your mind. We'll infuse emotion with logic, so we can not only make practical decisions, but emotionally healthy and wise ones, too.
